Heat Wave Relief for Young Students
Things might not look like usual this week at the Deviled Eggery, but that’s because we converted the space into a temporary daycare to get the outdoor program Sunbeam Nature School out of the heat and smokey air.
The outside conditions have been pretty brutal. Days over 100 degrees has made life outside hazardous, especially for more vulnerable populations such as children and older adults. Also the fires in the state combined with shifting wind patterns have blown smoke over our area, causing poor air quality.
Sunbeam Nature School has an outdoor focused curriculum and facilities for their students, making it difficult to teach effectively during more severe weather conditions. Our space has solar powered & energy efficient air conditioning, along with air purifiers in a large space that offers a respite from the elements.
The school found the setting to be a good fit, and the staff did a great job setting up the space to in advance of the students arrival. The families and staff were very appreciative, and we are honored to be a part of their wonderful community.
Let’s get through this heatwave by looking out for each other!
