Wicked Chicken Program
…because wicked chickens lay deviled eggs.
Welcome to the Deviled Eggery’s Wicked Chicken Program.
Chickens at the Deviled Eggery is a perfect fit. Throwback to the ‘70s, when “The Eggery” was a restaurant and gathering space for musicians and other eclectics, and the property had over 20,000 chickens!
Besides the nostalgia, we initiated this program to help a local preschool (Sunbeam Nature School) acquire a chicken coop so they can add activities and curriculum around local, sustainable agriculture and caring for animals into their program. The opportunity fell into our laps when a generous couple donated a coop but needed it moved within a week, and that was a tall order.
Enter several supporters who rallied around the cause, and a local hauling company (Mark of HaulMark) who changed their schedule to lead the effort. The logistics of moving it were complicated because of the weight, location, and timing, but we are here for it!
Our goal is to share the pleasure of chicken raising and the joy of local, healthy non-factory-farmed protein with local kids and their families. Once we have raised funds to sponsoring the chicken program at Sunbeam Nature School, we hope to be able to fund other local initiatives to support children learning about the importance of caring for animals and the environment with compassion. Local, sustainable agriculture for the win!
By donating to this gofundme, you are making programs like the chicken coop at Sunbeam Nature School possible.
Don't wait, get in on the in-egg-ural chicken coop!
